Sino-Ethiopia cooperation witnesses yielding fruits in various fields: Ambassador Xie

Addis Ababa, January 19, 2012 (Addis Ababa) - The Chinese Ambassador to Ethiopia Xie Xiaoyan said all- rounded cooperative partnership between China and Ethiopia has gained new momentum and yielded fresh fruits in various fields.

In a press conference he gave here to journalists on Thursday the ambassador the long standing cooperation of Sino-Ethiopia is witnessing practical achievements.

He said the two countries have enjoyed the fruitful cooperation in almost all areas of cooperation.

The ambassador said high level visit exchange between the two countries has further promoted the all-rounded relation.

He said his country has attached great importance to the Sino- Ethiopia cooperation that usher in the people to people, government to government and party to party relations

He said Ethiopia is becoming an attractive destination for Chinese investors. Until the end of 2011, some 28 Chinese investors with an aggregate capital of 345 million US dollars have been engaged in various sectors.

The ambassador said the trade exchange volume has reached more than 1.376 billion US dollars and efforts are underway to boost the volume.

He said the Chinese government has already engaged in agriculture, manufacturing and infrastructure sectors which are priority areas of Growth and Transformation Plan.

The ambassador said “ I am very much impressed by the quality of leadership of the Ethiopian government and its leading role in Africa.”

Commenting on the recent attack on foreign tourists in Afar region the Ambassador said terrorism should be condemned.

Ethiopia is safe, politically and economically stable country. This incident will never change country’s scenario, he said.

Concerning Sino-Africa relation the ambassador said Africa has been playing an increasingly important role in the international affair over the recent years.

He said China values the friendly cooperative relations with AU which serve as an integral part of the new China–Africa strategies partnership.

High level exchange between both sides have increased substantially and pushing forward bilateral cooperation in various fields and further enhancing strategic mutual trust, he said.

He said China firmly support AU’s endeavor in capacity building and safeguarding regional peace and stability.

The bilateral cooperation and coordination and increased people to people exchange is pushing forward the China –AU and China–Africa friendly relationship to a new level.

He said the new Africa Union Convention Center (AUCC), constructed by the Chinese government, will stand as a new monument of the long standing friendship between China and Africa.

Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) Jia Qinglin will be attending the 18th Africa Union Summit and inaugurating the AUCC.
