Advanced: Add unlimited photos to a node
Using the Wire Story type, you can add up to 3 photos to an article. This is sufficient in most cases. However, there are two additional ways to add many more photos to your articles. Both of these methods are advanced, meaning they take more time and skill to complete than using the photo fields included in the Wire Story type.
Using Photo Galleries
One method is to create a photo gallery, and then create a link in your article to the photo gallery. To create a photo gallery:
- Visit admin> Image Galleries
- Click the Add Gallery button
- Select a title for your gallery. If you want it to be available as a sub-category of another gallery, choose the other gallery from the Parent menu
- Click the Submit button
- On the gallery listing page, note the number of your gallery. This is a little tricky to find. You need to hover your mouse pointer over the corresponding "edit gallery" link and look for the trailing number in the browser status bar, as in this illustration:

In this case, the number is 32.
Next, you can add images to your gallery.
- Visit create content> Image
- Follow the instructions to add an image. Make sure to choose your gallery from the Image Galleries pull-down menu. You should not choose "promote to front page."
- Click the Submit button
- Repeat as often as necessary to add images to the gallery
Finally, link your article to the gallery:
- Create a new article, or edit an existing article. Use the Rich Text Editor
- In the body of the article, type some text, such as "View Photos of this Event"
- Select the text and click the Link button
- Enter the address for your gallery in this form:
image/tid/#
Where # is the number of your image gallery. In this case, it would be 32, hence:
image/tid/32
- Click the Insert button to add your link.
That's it!
Method 2: Using the Img_Assist Icon
You can also upload and enter images directly into your edited article. This is also an advanced method.
- Create or edit an article. Turn the Rich Text Editor on
- Place your cursor where you want to insert the image
- Click the Image Assist Icon, which looks like a plus sign and a photo
- This will open the Image Assist interface in a new window. You have to wait for a moment while the interface loads completely, so don't be surprised if the window is blank for a little while. Old image nodes can be deleted to speed this up.
- Once it loads, click the Add Image link

- The Create Image interface will load in the window. Follow the instructions for creating an image in this window. You do not have to add the image to a gallery.
- Click Submit and wait for the interface to reload
- Scroll down through the list of images in the upper-left pane of the window. Find the title that you gave your new image and click it.
- A thumbnail of the photo will load in the upper right pane, and information will load in the bottom pane.

- Optionally enter an Image Caption.
- Choose whether you want to insert the Original image or a smaller size with the Image to Use buttons
- You can use "Image to Use: Original" to set your own width for the image. By default it will be the original width of the image. Make sure that the image width is under 460 pixels wide. Simply click into the width box to delete the current value and replace it with one under 460 pixels. The height will automatically adjust to the right size.
- Click the Insert Image button
The image will be inserted into your article. Continue editing the article and Submit it to see the article with the image included.
- Important note: The article must be submitted with the "Full HTML" input format selected. Otherwise your caption will not be properly formatted.
