Broadcast journalist (4 positions)

Broadcast journalist is responsible for investigating, gathering and reporting on news and current affairs. Candidate is expected to present this information in a fair, balanced and accurate way through news bulletins, documentaries and other factual programs for radio, television.

Qualification and Requirements:

Qualifications in the following may improve chances, journalism, or business, finance/economics or government/politics. Potential candidates will need to show evidence of some or all of the following:

• An interest in news, current affairs and a good general knowledge;
• Excellent written communication;
• Good oral communication, with an authoritative voice, confidence in front of a camera and an 'on air' presence;
• Ability to work under pressure, both within teams and individually;
• Outstanding analytical skills and ability to absorb, extract and present information in a clear and understandable way;

Typical work activities

• Generating ideas for stories/features and following leads from news agencies, the police, the public, press conferences and other sources;
• Researching and collating evidence and information to support a story using relevant information sources (internet, archives, databases, etc);
• Writing scripts for bulletins, headlines and reports which adhere to legal and contractual guidelines;
• Selecting appropriate locations, pictures and sound and exercising editorial judgment on the best angle to approach a story from;

Radio producer is responsible for the audio content of broadcasts via radio platforms. Radio Producer is involved in the entire process, from generating ideas to managing the audience response after a program

Qualification and Requirements:

• Educational qualifications are not the only criteria for success - work experience and evidence of relevant skills for radio are valued much more highly.

Television production assistant (1 position)

A television production assistant (PA) may also be known as a script supervisor, or production secretary.

Qualification and Requirements:

Person must possess a qualification in a media discipline to demonstrate knowledge of different subjects, with relevant media training gained on the job. It can be considered useful, however, to study some media degree modules in a minor capacity. Candidate must graduate within; business-related studies, history, engineering, English and literary studies, and political and social sciences.

Typical work activities include some or all of the following tasks:

• Attending and timing rehearsals, overseeing timings during a shoot or show, and cueing pre-recorded material;
• Organizing the production and distribution of scripts as well as typing up camera scripts and shot cards;
• Producing timing schedules, shot lists and logs for post-production;
• Liaising with the camera and sound crew during studio recordings.
