Minister responds to MPs queries on budget allocation

Finance and Economic Development Minister Sofian Ahmed said the 2002 national budget to different government offices has been allocated properly.

Responding to several queries posed by MPs on Thursday the minister said there is no consideration that the budget is too much.

The budget is not exaggerated compared to 400 billion birr that the national economy generates at present, the minister said.

The 2002 national budget is expected to be endorsed next Monday at the House's extraordinary session.

In its 51st regular session on same day, the house approved a 10 million US dollars loan accord signed between Ethiopia and Arab Bank for Africa Development with majority vote.

The loan is meant for constructing the Nekept-Bedele road project in Oromia state.

Similarly, the house also endorsed a loan agreement between Ethiopia and International Development Association (IDA) for the implementation of the fourth road sector development project in Ethiopia. The loan amounts 166 million Special Drawing Right (SDR).
