Kilil5 Online is dedicated to making the Somali region or the Somali State “Kilil5” a special place to live by stimulating thought and discussion and in the process create a public forum for ideas. We will strive to inspire leaders in the Somali region and citizens to better their communities by informing citizens about news in the Somali region, of their country, and the world. We will also strive holding the leaders of the Somali State and the country as a whole, accountable to the citizens by exposing corruption, and bad governance. Our goal is to help the Somali state and Ethiopia become and remain strong, vital and successful from now on and for generations to come.

Kilil5 online has been created, published and funded solely by Somali intellectuals in and outside the country who either trace their routes to the Somali state or sympathize with the people of the region who have endured decades of underdevelopment, corruption, lack of good leadership, negligent, oppression and outright discrimination by former Ethiopian regimes. Our goal is to provide an alternate source of news to the current tribal websites and news outlets that advocate tribal hegemonies, have become a source of new conflicts, and instability in the region and a source of misinformation.

Chronic poor leadership, ignorance, underdevelopment, tribal conflict, famine and hunger plague the Somali State, and is by far the least developed compared to the rest of the country. Our goal is to change this by informing citizens, advocating good governance, advocating tolerance and peaceful coexistence among the many tribes and clans that inhabit this region, and hopefully inspire change and development within the region and new leaders to emerge.

Our goal is very clear and ambitious: we intend to become a trusted, dependable source of reliable news coverage worldwide, educate both the citizens and leaders, create a forum for discussion for new ideas for the region and the country, and provide independent editorial commentary. We will play a key role ensuring access to information that is essential for informed citizens to make decisions about their leaders. We will strive to inspire and motivate a new young crop of leaders to emerge and lead this region out of the ashes of ignorance, conflict, and poverty.

We also encourage leaders and employees of the Somali State to come forward and expose corruption within the State and local governments and expose those who instigate and create conflict among the citizens of the Somali State.
